DataPortals.org datacatalogs.org- Comprehensive list of open data portals in the world maintained by Open Knowledge International
EU DatIncludes data produced by EU public bodies. Key organisation is Eurostat the official statistical office. Its website is a rich source of current and historic quantitative data covering all aspects of economic and social life. Many datasets allow comparison between nations and regions in Europe.

[stats.oecd.org]OECD.Stat Contains data for OECD nations and some selected non-members. Wide coverage of economic and social topics. Includes science, technology.  Downloading of many datasets restricted to subscribers only.

[data.un.org]United Nations Official United Nations site. Especially good for statistical profiles of individual nations. Includes links to specialised databases of the UN.

[data.worldbank.org]World Bank Open access to global development data. There is also a [microdata.worldbank.org/index.php/home]microdata catalogue of household level surveys.

Climate Hub 360 (UNFCCC)

While the COVID-19 pandemic is posing an unprecedented challenge globally, climate change is the biggest challenge facing humanity in the long run. 2020 remains critical for increasing climate ambition, particularly now that events around the world rely almost entirely on up-to-date virtual information. To give guidance and clarity on the work ahead, UN Climate Change has launched Climate Hub 360, a new visual event platform to showcase key events as well as UNFCCC own events leading up to COP26. This living product will be updated continuously as UNCCC’s work progresses and will help “drive the highest possible ambition and facilitate the delivery of mandates envisioned for 2020 and in the lead up to COP 26.”

 

 

 

Suffrage Interviews

 wonderful new digitised resource from the LSE Archives.  

 

interviews were conducted by the historian Brian Harrison between 1974 and 1981, as part of a project funded by the Social Science Research Council they are an amazing voice int the past. they also

offer insight into the interview process as they are complete with background noises 

for background on the history and to get a taste of the content try this BBC world service documentary 

 

Another great item released from the lse is the recent recorded zoom event  on decolonising the archive in which 3 curators provide insight into their approach and offer tips of what is available from it i learnt about the Commonwealth league collection which was founded in 1925 to promote equality amongst nations of the  commonwealth. this blog posting provides insight into its history and relationship with womens suffrage leaders. The LSE Digital Library has a number of online conference reports which can be used to trace materials on race

Artemsia at National gallery

A great new exhibition available via Google arts and culture which is based on the current exhibition of the works of Artemisia Gentileschi at the National Gallery in London. It has details on her career and depiction of heroines in arts. Features include a timeline of her life, the ability to zoom in on individual paintings and discussion of themes in them 

 

 

ACLED’s political violence and protest data website now has a new feature.  in addition to the datasets  which  allow researchers to monitor emerging crises around the world in real time. It now has a Conflict Pulse prediction tool, users can now model expected trends a week into the future, supporting efforts to develop enhanced early warning systems and prevent violence before it occurs.
