to be more willing to be geographically mobile,

Really great online exhibition which provides free access to a range of materials including photographs, oral history recordings, newspaper and staff magazine clippings, leaflets and posters relating to transport and the tube ad buses in London during 1939-45 includes sections women and work and sheltering in the tube during air raids
Centre for Ageing Better Community of Practice resource library
Lottery funded evidence based researh organisation . the website brings together a catalogue of reports, studies and infographics on areas of interest to Community members and others interested in evidence around ageing better. Topics covered include governent policy, home design as well as individual health and fitness and activities.
WHO Ageing Data Portal
The WHO Ageing Data Portal brings together data on available global indicators relevant to monitoring the health and well-being of people aged 60 years and over. Through maps, charts and tables, the portal offers tailored options for visualization and analysis of the data. Topics covered include health ageing, age friendlt cities, life expectancy and ageism.
World Kindness day 13th November
Just to celebrate this some special social sciences resources. Very difficult to define or measure kindness .
The world giving index from CAF measures giving to charity and willingness to help a stranger amongst individuals . It is ranked by nation in the last edition Myanmr was top of the league.
The digital civility index measures online behaviours and respect . which nations treat each other well online?
The Cost of a Plate of Food 2020 (WFP)
A basic meal is far beyond the reach of millions of people in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic joins existing food shortages and hunger according to this report from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The report highlights the countries where a simple meal such as rice and beans costs the most, when compared with people’s incomes. South Sudan top of the list, with basic ingredients costing a staggering 186 percent of a person’s daily income.
World Bank Water Data Portal
With support from the Global Water Security & Sanitation Partnership (GWSP), the World Bank has just launched the World Bank Water Data Portal. It brings together in one place data on water quality and quantity; water supply and access and water and climate change
Jewish Archives in Britain
Hidden Treasures is a project of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, it spotlights and provides a directory of key archives relating to Jewish history and culture . There is a treasures section with highlights from featured archives. these inclyde photographs, documents and artefacts relating to Jewish life in Britain. see this jewish feminist magazine
Sheffield City Archives digitises 100,000 historical items adding to Picture Sheffield service
A great number of new items have been added to the site,. there are good historic maps
plus sections on fashion, local industry (cutlery steel) and events
Two great events held this week which now have digital recordings
Mapping suffrage formed part of the ESRC festival of social science
This has a series of talks and papers on the fight for women’s suffrage. Can recommend the National archives talk on evading the census in 1911 and the one on suffrage songs. But they are all excellent.
Time and Tide 100th anniversary festival of women writers and journalists.
This festival showcased Time and Tide’s interwar history and explore the status of women in the media and publishing landscape today.
