High Pay

on 6th January the High Pay Centre declared 

 that the median FTSE 100 CEO's earnings for 2021 surpassed the median annual wage for a full-time worker in the UK

Pay for top CEOs in 2020 (full data for the impact of the pandemic not yet available) is about 120 times that of the typical UK worker. Estimates suggest it was around 50 times at the turn of the millennium or 20 times in the early 1980s.

 

Fabulous digital images of 58 banners made  between1908-1920 by suffrage organisations for campaigns and processions . They include Mary Lowndes designs.

The Mapping Museums project

from Birkbeck College provides detail on museums 1960-2017 This includes openings, closures and location. There is also information on subject coverage. In addition the site includes interviews and podcasts with sector leaders. Although the project has added, there are some plans to add additional data to the site

 

Enslaved: Peoples of the Historical Slave Trade. 

Matrix: The Center for Digital Humanities & Social Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU), in partnership with the MSU Department of History, University of Maryland provide a wealth of information on —individuals and the slave trade. These include slaves, slave owners and traders . It aims to have some biographies as well as datasets accounts of events and more.

 

African American Members of the U.S.Congress: 1870-2020
the latest Congressional research service report now has updated data. it incudes total numbers, data on each congress and party affiliations. There are also essays giving overviews of trends in representations and biographies of all members 



Library of Congress digitises more Early Presidential papers

Great new network and resource created by renowned specialist Andrew Walsh

it aims to offer a one stop support centre for al those who teach in library related settings. There are going to be events pages for teachmeets, discussion pages , tips and spaces for resource recommendations. Basic service is offered free for registered users. A premium product has also been launched which will offer additional resources created by Andrew
