This week school meals during lockdown have been controversial as lunch packs supplied for those receiving free school dinners were criticised.

Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) 
has now expanded real-time coverage to all of Europe, extending the dataset to 37 new countries and territories. These data add more than 28,000 political violence and demonstration events and bring ACLED’s combined Europe dataset . they include extensive coverage of the impact of covid related lockdowns and restrictions



The Digital Verification Corps
 is a network of volunteers from universities worldwide trained in open source investigation methods that help them verify data from social media platforms. Today, the initiative includes 100 participating students from seven universities. These include Human Rights Centres at the University of California, Berkeley (US), the University of Essex (UK), the University of Pretoria (South Africa), 

the website includes reports - these comprise a large section on the evidence for police violence during American Black lives matters protests 



Florence Nightingale at home

fascinating research project supported by the University of Nottingham which examines Florence Nightingales connections with  the geographical area of the Derbyshire . It is mapping her family connections with the west midlands and considering how it effected her life and  writings in health care

The site has online lectures, maps and a blog charting progress

new digital resource celebrating the life , work and impact of the trade union leader as well as a wider picture of the

 National Federation of Women Workers and early women trade union organisation. It uses  resources from the TUC archives including lovely photos and extracts from letters showcasing key materials



Silent voices Bukavu series

 

This series is the outcome of a collaboration between Angaza Institute, the Groupe d’Etudes sur les Conflits/Sécurité Humanitaire (GEC-SH), Juwa (UCL) and the Conflict Research Group (Ghent University), and is hosted by the Governance in Conflict Network (GIC).drawn from the silent voices blog  . It explores the power dynamics between researchers from the Global North and the Global South. it uses cartoons and comments  to discuss the invisibility of researchers from the global south and the silencing of female voices in male dominated spaces
