The IPPO Living Map: a searchable database of evidence on the social impacts of COVID-19

Just launched a searchable  international database of systematic reviews of research about the social impacts of COVID-19. which is being updated monthly by  

The International Public Policy Observatory (IPPO) a UK academic collaboration which  aims assess evidence from around the world to inform UK policymakers. 
The scope of the Living Map will be  social sciences research evidence on COVID-19, including (but not limited to) IPPO’s priority topic areas: mental health, education, housing, care, Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, vulnerable communities, and online life. Main content is at present on mental health

Shocking statistics from the latest Economic Forum report which benchmarks  

benchmarks the evolution of gender-based gaps in over 100 nations worldwide, focussing on  four sectors  economic participation and opportunity; educational attainment; health and survival; and political empowerment. This year's report considers the impact of the pandemic on gender power structures 

 

 

The female Form through time Google Arts and Culture exhibition 

Great online resource curated by the Discovery museum which shows how fashion, clothing and culture has dictated the female Silhouette in Western society form Victorian times to the present day includes images with short commentary. 

 

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Wildlife illustrations collection 

WCS’s Department of Tropical Research (DTR) conducted many expeditions from 1910-1960s producing sketches of wildlife . The public can now access its digital collection of some 2,200 forgotten, historical scientific wildlife illustrations.  

They include: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, marine invertebrates, plants, and fungi. The sites where the DTR worked include British Guiana (now Guyana), the Galápagos Islands, the Hudson Canyon, Bermuda, the Gulf of Mexico and the Eastern Pacific Ocean, Venezuela, and Trinidad. 

 

Gender gaps & inequality illustrated by GIFs 

a fun website which was produced as a result of a competition organised by Europeana and is based on historic images form Europe's national libraries. The winners produced animated gifs illustrating gender inequality which are quite innovative and fun to view
