Black literature timeline 

An inspiring resource from the British Library. This literary timeline explores the history of Black literature and writing in Britain through approx. 50 texts. . These have been written  by people who were born in former British colonies in Africa, the Caribbean and Americas. It also has a poster teachers can download and lists of further reading. 

 

 

Struggles for Liberty. African American Revolutionaries in the Atlantic World.  

Wonderful resource created by the national Library of Scotland  

As the result of an international collaborative UK Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) project, ‘Our Bondage and Our Freedom: The Struggles for Liberty of the Anna Murray and Frederick Douglass Family’. It focuses on 19th Century African American activists many of whom campaigned in Scotland. It includes photos testimony in their own words and maps of their travels in Scotland 

 

The Black British Women Writers website
This resource seeks to stimulate the discussion of the literary art of women writers of African and African-Caribbean descent living in Britain. from 19th century onwards. It contains biographies and lists of writings by and. about the authors work. 

maintained by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Bekers, Vrij Universiteit Brussel (VUB) The website has grown out of the 1st Expert Seminar on Black British Women's Writing held at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2013 

 

London Transport Black History Map 

A great fun resource compiled by the Black cultural archives which replace the names of the tube lines with  themes such as trailblazers, literary greats and the tube stops with brief biographies of key black figures in these fields from eeriest times who have made a contribution to London life

Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2021: Unmasking disparities by ethnicity, caste and gender.
Co-authored by OPHI and the United Nations Development Programme . This annual report Provide estimates on multidimensional poverty for 109 developing countries (with data from surveys ranging 2009–2019/2020); 

Present multidimensional poverty estimates disaggregated by ethnicity and caste for 41 countries and also considers the relationship between poverty and gender. 

 

 

Early Modern female book ownership 

 

 

Scholarly blog maintained by Mark Empey, Sarah Lindenbaum, Tara Lyons, Erin McCarthy, Micheline White, Georgianna Ziegler, and Martine van which has postings and images  of books owned by women 1500-1750. Content and theme of the books are described. Finding aids to their locations in libraries and archives is also provided
